It is company-wide policy that if you call a store with their sku (or inventory) number for an item you found at another ROSS store in order to buy more of the same, the employees are under strict instructions NOT TO HELP YOU IN ANY WAY OVER THE PHONE by checking the racks to see if they have one in stock. Under no circumstances will they walk over to racks and check for you, even if you offer to call back in several hours when they are not so busy.

The staff give many excuses, but in the end, when pressed, they give the store policy as the reason they will not help you out at all. Never dealt with a retail chain that had this policy of being told not to be helpful to customers in this way.

Review about: Ross Dress For Less Customer Care.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Allow staff to check inventory on hand by phone during slow times..

I liked: Low prices.

How in the world do you think someone has time to go read every ticket looking for a specific sku because you are too lazy to come in yourself? Ross does not have an item by item logbook. Itd be similar to playing "wheres waldo?"

Ross usually don't have a sales floor associate unless they know it will be a really busy day like a Saturday and even then that person ob is to also be back cashier for when the line gets to long which is every ten minutes

I tried asking if I could call back in a few hours if they were busy at the time of my call and I was told that under no circumstances are they to check racks for specific items because they want customers to come to the store in hopes that customers will buy something else if item they were looking for is not in stock. GOAL IS TO GET YOU INTO THE STORE.

ever wonder why Ross says that their stores are a treasure hunt? because you literally have to go in and find stuff.

As for over the phone customer service this time of year is the busiest and they do not have "floor staff" just to find an item for you. When you ask for customer service you are asking for the cashiers upfront that have long lines to go search for an item that they possibly never have gotten in stock since each Ross is different.

You want to waste someone's day at no expense or inconvenience to yourself .
